Frontiers – RipetaScore: Measuring the Quality, Transparency, and Trustworthiness of a Scientific Work

March 27, 2022

In an age of misinformation, disinformation, and general distrust in science, how can we know if what we are reading is trustworthy? Ripeta team members Josh Sumner, Cynthia Hudson-Vitale, and Leslie McIntosh sought to explore this question in their most recent publication, “RipetaScore: Measuring the Quality, Transparency, and Trustworthiness of a Scientific Work.”

The paper breaks down how we, as consumers and propagators of scientific information, can build and improve upon the current foundational metrics we use to gain insight into publications. Ripeta’s scoring system is unique in that it serves as a direct measure of a paper’s quality based on the content. So, how does it work, what is the impact of this measurement on the scientific landscape, and where do we go from here?
